When is a biomechanical assessment indicated:

If you suffer with lower back, knee or neck pain you can benefit from a biomedical assessment (most of the above problems come from your feet), flat feet (dropped arches), heel pain (plantar faciitis), lower back pain, neck & shoulder pain, knee pain, achillis pain (achillis tendonitis), shin pain (shin splint), reoccurring sport injuries, diabetic or rheumatoid arthritis.

Podiatric biomechanics is the study of the science of the lower limb alignment and function. In-depth knowledge of the foot biomechanics and the lower limb function is used to address structural and postural problems. When the foot does not function 100%, abnormal wear and tear will occur on the knees, hips and lower back.

Neck and shoulder pain or muscular pain can also be experienced. Sports people often suffer injuries. If the foot is not distributing the weight and propelling the weight forward properly in the long term arthritic changes will take place and abnormal wear and tear. (if the house is build on a crocked foundation the whole house will be crocked). the same applies for the feet.

I will measure the amount of motion in all the joint of your foot, weight bearing and non-weight bearing. A cast of the foot will be taken and will be send to the lab for 3D scanning and make the orthotic unique to your foot and to ensure comfort.

I will calculate the readings and write a prescription for your orthotics and these will also be send to the lab to make your prescription made orthotics. The orthotic can be moved from shoe to shoe.

Simple Insoles

  • Palliative treatment(insoles to relieve symptom, not corrective)
  • Prescription made insoles to relief pressure, often seen in people suffering with diabetic or rheumatoid arthritis

Hotter or any other sandals with removable sole, can be replaced by a prescription orthotics.
